For some time now, WarnerMedia and Discovery have attempted to merge platforms, which has been messy and confusing, to say the least. This merger has brought on many changes for Warner in several of its platforms.
Final Space is an adult animated comedy-drama television series created by Olan Rogers and developed by Rogers and David Sacks. The series first aired in 2018 on TBS, and after that, it was moved to Cartoon Network’s late-night programming block, Adult Swim.
The series follows an astronaut named Gary Goodspeed; he is trapped in a spaceship completing his jail sentence when he encounters an immensely powerful alien by the name of Mooncake, and they immediately become friends. However, Mooncake seems to be running away from something, this suspicion gets confirmed when some new people arrive at the ship with the intention of bringing Mooncake to someone called Lord Commander. The story focuses on the adventures they have as they try to save Mooncake from this enemy and the universe from certain doom. While the story it’s about these adventures, at the core of the story is a story about found family and impossible love.
The series had a sizable-enough cult following that kept the story going for three seasons. Nevertheless, just like many other series, Final Space was not able to dodge the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery. In 2021, the creator Olan Rogers announced on his platforms the cancellation of the series. Ever since, Rogers has tried to give the series a proper ending for the story. But as of now, fans are still waiting to get an ending to the acclaimed series. It is also important to mention that Final Space has not been the only casualty of this merger, shows like Infinity Train, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Genera+ion, etc. are getting the same fate as Final Space.
