Joyce Carol Oates is one of the most celebrated American writers of our time. She is the National Book Award-winning author of more than sixty novels and thousands of short stories.
Life
According to Masterclass, Joyce began writing at the age of 14. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school and attend Syracuse University, where she graduated in 1960 as valedictorian. Later, she received her M.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

She says that writers like Franz Kafka and James Joyce have inspired her work.
Legacy
While no one can deny that Joyce Carol Oates is a very prolific author, writing over sixty novels, including Bellefleur (1980), You Must Remember This (1987), Foxfire: Confessions of a Girl Gang (1993), Zombie (1995), Carthage (2014), and A Book of American Martyrs (2017). In addition, of course to at least thirty short story collections, plays, poems, novellas, book reviews, and essays across multiple genres, including gothic fiction. The public might know her better for her book, Blonde. Blonde is a fictional biography of Marilyn Monroe, a book that was made into a movie in 2022, with Anna de Armas as Marilyn Monroe. Both the book and the movie have received strong criticism from both the critics and the public.
