About Jane Austen’s movie adaptations.

The works of Jane Austen have been adapted many times over the years, and they will most likely continue to be adapted. While it cannot be denied that every book by Jane Austen deserves its place on the podium, this doesn’t mean that every adaptation does. As it’s usual with book-to-movie adaptations, sacrifices must be made for the sake of the scream, which ones are for the better is of course the question. It must be mentioned that this list includes only movies, which of course leaves out the 1995 BBC miniseries Pride and Prejudice and the 2009 BBC One miniseries Emma.

5. Persuasion, 2020

Unlike the previous movie on the list, people seem to agree that this movie never stood a chance. From butchering Austen’s dialogues to breaking the fourth wall, the movie is hated among Jane Austen’s fans.
